He is mechanically ventilated at 12 breaths/minute; 950 ml tidal volume (normal = 500 ml); gas mixture containing 40% O2 (normal air = 21%). Lasix is given twice a day. 2 liters of 5% glucose (D5W) are given every 24 hours.
